Message Logging

Keep Discord message edits and deletions on the record — plus optional bot-spam cleanup.

Overview

When a message is edited or deleted in your Discord server, Sylon keeps a record with the original and new content, author and channel — so nothing disappears without a trace. An optional module can also auto-delete other bots' messages in the channels you choose.

How it works

1

Record edits & deletes

Message edits and deletions are logged with before/after content and full context to your log channel.
2

Attribute

Each entry ties back to the author and channel, and links into the activity timeline for the full picture.
3

Keep clean (optional)

The auto-delete module removes other bots' messages in selected channels, with exemptions where you want them kept.

Key capabilities

Edited-message before/after logging
Deleted-message content capture
Author and channel attribution
Optional bot-message auto-delete
Per-channel exemptions
Dedicated message-log channel

Setup

1.Open the dashboard, go to the Message Logging tab and enable it.
2.Set the channel where edits and deletions are posted.
3.Exempt any channels that should not be logged — a bot-spam or NSFW channel, for instance.
4.That is the whole setup; there is nothing else to configure.

How it works in detail

What gets logged

Every message edit and every message deletion in the server is recorded to the log channel, showing who, where and what changed.

Why it matters

It’s the plainest record of "what did this message actually say before it was edited or removed" — useful for moderation disputes and for catching edited-after-the-fact abuse that other systems might otherwise miss.

Scope

Only edits and deletions are logged here — joins, leaves, role changes and voice activity belong to Activity Logging, which runs independently.

Settings

Log ChannelThe channel where the bot will send log messages for this feature.
Exempt ChannelsMessages in these channels will not be checked by this protection.

Good to know

Sylon needs View Channel and Read Message History in every channel it should log.
Messages sent before Sylon joined a channel cannot be logged, since the bot never saw the original content.
Exempted channels are skipped entirely — nothing about them reaches the log channel.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see deleted content?

Yes, where Sylon saw the original message it logs the deleted content.

Does it clean bot spam?

Optionally. The auto-delete module removes other bots' messages in channels you designate.

Can I exempt channels?

Yes. Both logging and auto-delete support per-channel exemptions.
