Role Menus

Self-service Discord reaction and button roles your members assign themselves.

Overview

Give Discord members control over their own roles. Build reaction-based or button-based role menus in the dashboard, deploy them to any channel, and let people opt into colors, pings, regions or interests without pinging your staff.

How it works

1

Build

Create a menu in the dashboard, add roles with labels and emojis, and choose reaction or button style.
2

Deploy

Send the menu to any channel with one click — or re-apply it after edits without duplicates.
3

Self-serve

Members click a button or add a reaction to grant or remove a role instantly.

Setup

1.Open the dashboard, go to the Role Menus tab.
2.Create a menu, add the roles it offers, and choose buttons or reactions as the selection method.
3.Deploy it to any channel — it works exactly the same both ways from that point on.

How it works in detail

Buttons versus reactions

A button menu shows labelled buttons for each role and is the clearer choice for most servers. A reaction menu uses emoji on the message itself, closer to how older Discord role setups looked.

Selecting and deselecting

Clicking a button or reacting again removes the role if the member already has it — the same control both grants and revokes.

Multiple menus

A server can run more than one menu — for example, one for pronouns and a separate one for game roles — each deployed to its own message.

Good to know

Sylon needs Manage Roles, and every role offered in a menu must sit below Sylon in the hierarchy.
Deleting a menu from the dashboard does not remove the roles members already picked up from it.

Frequently asked questions

Reaction or button roles?

Both. Each menu can be reaction-based or button-based, your choice.

Can I edit after deploying?

Yes. Edit in the dashboard and re-apply the menu without creating duplicates.

How many menus can I have?

Multiple menus per server, each with its own set of roles.
